Well, it went well! It's already been over a week, so I thought it was time to give you a peek :)
There were 16 adults and 5 children and one baby, I think. A few people couldn't make it. I had an open invitation from 1 to 6 PM and hoped everyone wouldn't come at the same time. It worked out perfectly, my husband's side of the family and my Godmother came first and just about the same time they were leaving, my family came, and then a little later some friends.
I know Indiana was happy with the bouquet of roses, handmade angel decoration, and handmade stick horse that she got as a gift. She was happy with the cat shaped reflector and a pack of Hello Kitty tissues, and everything else. She got some Legos and a rider and saddle and braces for her Sleisch horses that we play with. She got a very sweet children's bible we have been reading at night and a great animal book with photographs and information and sounds of 100 animals. We have been listening and reading it a lot. And she got a fun craft book!
She was happy with the cake that could be described as a minor disaster, if one was really self-conscious about such things ;) and the balloons -which are still around and great fun for her a week later.
She was happy that everything was cow's milk and gluten free so for once she could eat anything she wanted.
I was happy with the coffee maker we borrowed from our upstairs neighbor.
It was okay to wash a few plates and mugs in between guests, and it was okay that the mugs didn't match.
The seating turned out to be just enough, with the floor pillows and desk chairs. Indiana's desk made a great coffee table!
It was never too crowded. In retrospect I think I should have invited half of the guests at 1 o'clock and the other half at 3 o'clock, but it worked out this time anyway. But then maybe my family would get to talk to my husband's family for once :)
I think the most important thing was to be excited about her birthday and the preparations, and not stress about things being perfect.
This is our home, this is the way we live.
It was her party, and she loved it!

It looked simply perfect!!! I'm so glad it all worked out, so you didn't have to figure out seating or space issues. I wish all parties could be as simple as this one! Here, it's like moms are always trying to one-up each other. It's hard to plan a simple party and feel ok about it.
Good to see she has such a great time! It all looks lovely. Even without the personal children's party planner!
