Happy New Year!

Sorry about the silence- we have been away from home and feeling unwell. I just want to write a quick post and share a few pictures and thoughts, post Christmas :)

Our home is feeling a bit *full* at the moment with the Christmas tree, the teepee and the rather large vintage doll bed Indiana got for Christmas :) (I didn't bother to ask for measurements when I bought it on-line, I was actually only worried that it might be tiny, hehe!!) But no worries, it fits all her stuffies now!

Otherwise there was a really small pile of gifts, and quite a few went straight to the attic because she didn't want them. I will keep them for later or we will donate them to children who would otherwise have no toys. There was a set of Playmobil, a set of Duplo Lego, and a wooden three-layer puzzle (from me) that she didn't want. She just said that she wants to give it to some other child. Go figure. Also last week at my sister's house her nieces would have given her some old Duplo animals because they have so much, some of them from my husband's childhood, but she refused them. My husband and I were trying to persuade her to take them, but to no avail, haha!

Where I'm getting at is that I did not feel offended at the slightest when she honestly informed me that she didn't like the puzzle I had bought her (and I thought it was so cute, a tree house with animals). It made me laugh a little at how peculiar she is with stuff.

If you got unwanted or unneeded gifts, remember that the love is in the act of giving a gift and not the actual physical object. You are free to make another act of love and donate the gift you do not need to someone who does. It's not honoring the original giver if you grudgingly hold on to the thing you don't really want or have a place for.

Giving away a gift doesn't mean you are rejecting the person who gave it. Don't give material stuff such importance and power.

Be thankful for the love and the gesture, and then think about where the gift might serve a real purpose and make someone happy.

I hope to write more soon, but now I'm off to a friend's opening..

Happy, simple, peaceful, joyful, blesses year 2012 to you dear readers!

What a very powerful sentiment! This is very true and very important.

Thank you for your posts. They are very beautiful to look at and inspiring.

Oh, Indiana is sooo funny, she certainly knows what she likes and wants... definitely a budding minimalist.

Wishing you joy and blessings for 2012!!
