The beautiful oak bed is now glossy, bright, marmalade RED.
She loves it. I love it too, but I did feel a bang of guilt when I covered the wood with shiny paint. I sanded the lacquer only lightly, thinking that it would be easier then to strip the paint later if we, or someone else, should wish to do so.
I still can't believe we bought this handmade bed for only 60 euros. It sure is appreciated over here.
I sewed sheets, a duvet and and a duvet cover from vintage fabrics. Then we stuck rest of the animal stickers to the wall and she played it's her neighborhood forest.
So it was goodbye bare bones -bedroom, hello friendly forest animals and red marmalade bed.
One day we will have a bedroom to ourselves, but now we share with her, and we compromise, because it's her bedroom too.
I will not try to box her stuff into a corner and make it invisible, I will not box her in.
I've been a bit sick, and sometimes when you get scared about what is going to happen, it helps you to see things so very clearly.
You want to read more books to your baby, you want to laugh with her more. You want to paint something red because she wishes it oh, so much.
